Social Gatherings

Mingle with other homeschoolers in a relaxed setting. Fun for the entire family! Bring a snack for your family to enjoy. Spend time with other homeschooling families. This is a great opportunity to talk with other home educators in our community!

"Hang Out" Time

Crouse Park is a great spot for picnics and relaxing in the sun in the warm months. The kids always seem to find interesting little creatures living in and around the creek which often turns the adventure into an impromptu science lesson. There is also a basketball court, walking path, playground, barbeque pits and picnic shelters, and a skateboard park adjacent to Crouse Park. We also have “hang out” time at the Lions Club, public library and Alleghany Wellness Center.

Show-and-Tell

We have Show-and-Tell for all ages, from tots to teens. Each person brings one item from home to show and describe to the group. It is very informal and fun, for the kids AND adults. It is also a good opportunity to practice speaking in front of a group.

Arts and Crafts

We have assorted age-appropriate craft activities, pre-K through adult, at HHO Social Gatherings twice monthly.

Fiber Group

With “Fiber Group” we all sit around and do any craft that involves the use of a thread (fiber) such as knitting, crocheting, sewing, weaving, felting, rug making, etc. It is fun to do while chit-chatting with others. :-)
